Bermuda Babe

I’ve been lucky to visit with my Bermuda friend Casey over the last couple of weeks, she helps me survive travel when I am missing my kitties.  I drop in on her after work and she runs chirping to greet me.  We have a petting and purring love session, then I feed her some treats (she sits up nicely) and then we just chill and enjoy one another’s company.

While we are communing – just hanging out together – Casey grooms.  It is an all consuming task and never ending.  How else can she stay the beautiful babe she is without keeping up her routine?

Focused Feline

Both of my kitties are able to watch repetitive things for much longer than me – I get bored quickly with the pendulum motion and give up or stop when they still are mesmerizingly entertained.

But beneath that repetitive fixation is the blaze of reflexes when they do strike.  I can be absolutely BLOWN away with how slow my reflexes are and how lightening fast theirs are.  I reassure myself that the “Stimulus – Pause – Response” of my brain (with the longer pause than theirs) is what helps me make better complex decisions.  But in the catching of flies they win paws down.

Happy Valentine Birthday Celebrations

AepCatValentineCuddle

The two kitties (smaller/upper one is Princess, larger/lower one is Rusty) are sharing a heating pad that was placed on one of the office chairs four years ago.

In this photo Rusty is just about a year in my house from his adoption and I decided that it was so close to February 14th when I got him that I would always celebrate his arrival “birthday” by considering him my valentine kitty.

They both (and me) wish everyone love and lots of hugs and purrs on this February 14th and EVERY day.

Location, location, location…

My kitties teach me constantly that location in sales (and in life) matters.  They both know where the sunbeams in the house are at particular times of the day and they often try to tell me about them when they head there.  It has taken me AGES to realize that when they come out of the back bedroom and chat to me on the way up the stairs that the message is “come with us to the sunbeam.”

When I do follow them I am treated to the process there… it starts with grooming:

Then, once every hair is properly placed it continues to lolling in an inviting way… please feel free to pet (with appropriate purring as additional enticement)…

Princess knows the value of location too.  When she wants attention she can place herself in a way that absolutely prohibits being ignored.  In this case DIRECTLY on the document that has my attention…

It is IMPOSSIBLE to resist this face – so she gets petting and cuddling and then she gets what she really wants… ACTIVITY.  Sometimes that is doing tricks, sometimes that is playing chase, and sometimes it is tracking down a favorite toy (or a new toy) for her and tussling with it together.

This is a favoured toy – a “kicker” – that she can really get physical with.  Princess has always been a kitty that likes activity, even now that she is a senior with a bit of a paunch 😉

Home from Seoul (briefly)

I just spent a week away from my kitties in Seoul Korea and found that “checking in” to my WordPress account was fun (I don’t know any Korean – but I can guess):

SignInWordPressKoreaAnd then last night (after arriving back in Calgary only about an hour after I left Seoul – gotta love crossing that date-line) I was greeted with Purrs and Chirps and LOTS of talking by my two gorgeous best furry friends.  After we had snuggled and petted for a while I did the thing that they love most on my returns – opened the luggage (with all its fascinating smells) and let them rummage.  They were a blur of movement – but you can still notice both of them have a ridge of hair standing upright along their backs SO EXCITING!

After I got the laundry into the machine I said “Bedtime kitties” and they raced me upstairs and waited (not terribly patiently for Princess is talking about me getting into bed to play and give treats!)

(NOT your best look Princess.)  But soon we were all snoozing together.  In the morning after play, and breakfast – I foolishly wanted to get some work done.  Have a look at my “help” in that department…

Not my most productive day… but hey – it was a Sunday… and I was jet lagged (couldn’t POSSIBLY be the kitties fault!  😉 )
