Crazy Cat Lady? Definition…

Question:  How many cats does a person need before they are classified as a “Crazy Cat Lady”?

Answer 1:  More cats than people in the house?

Answer 2:  More than two?

Answer 3:  Princess thinks I am about to overstretch the number!  But Princess can have her opinion… the real answer to this question, of course, is a Google search.  Which brings a variety of answers.  Some sites say that three cats takes a person into that category.  I disagree and think that is absurdly arbitrary (for one thing living on an acreage or farm three would be too few for sure).  I think that the answer is more behavior based than number based so I REALLY liked the questions on this site.  Their test leaves me at a “Level 1 – Crazy Cat Lady In Training”.

FINAL ANSWER – what I am doing does NOT constitute me being a crazy cat lady.  So THERE Princess!

And, really, I am doing this FOR Princess.  I do not want my little girl lonely.

So – bottom line – what is all this leading up to?  The arrival of two new kitties into my home and into our lives.  Meet Shadow (he’s a youngster – only 5 months old) and Debonair (he’s a retired stud and seven years old).  They aren’t looking their very best – travel is tough.  Give them a few days 🙂

Deep Thinking – Life IS Change

I started this blog 313 days ago for personal reasons;  51 posts short of a full year later I think about what has occurred:

  • I’ve paid WAY more attention to my kitties and that has made their life and mine richer
  • I’ve reconnected with some family and friends and had the opportunity to let them enjoy my kitties and have a few happy smiles
  • I’ve made some really nice new friends
  • I’ve learned about WordPress and blogging

Those are some of the pros of this blog, but there always are some cons… so I asked Rusty to help me ponder how and if this should continue unchanged every day;

He gave this some VERY serious thought (as you should be able to tell above).

  • The amount of time and energy it takes to post with comment every day trying to keep new and original is… well, quite high
  • Posting EVERY day may actually be decreasing the quality of the posts

So – we (the kitties and I) concluded to move forward in a different way.  This isn’t a new year’s resolution nor is this a “break for the holidays”:  elainesdailykitty will live every day with her kitties… and will post no less than once a week.

To anyone that has been enjoying and still wants a daily kitty – I’m sorry – but (as Remy the Chef in Disney’s Ratatouille says) life IS change.  I believe this change is a good one for me and mine.  Hugs and Purrs from my blog to all.

Boxing Day

A dear friend every year goes out of her way to give me a box filled with joy for the kitties.

This year she carefully selected a box that came from a house with dogs in it.  Then she packed meat in it for a while.  Then she filled it with various little kitty treats and toys.

I kept the box in the back of my vehicle till the house was quiet and we had time to enjoy the process of inspection and play.

There was intense smelling of the outside before the box was opened – but it was all so energetic I never got a decent photo…

When there are SO MANY great smell gifts/messages you don’t want to rush to the contents.  Happy day!

Vacancy – to let

Location, location, location.  View down onto yard and out to street.  Up Close view of the bird feeder (to the left of the photo).  Over heat vent.  In protected alcove surrounded by jungle greenery…

Solid access from stable wooden chair.  Treats to entice…

(taking odds on how long till it is sold 😉 )

One more attempt…

I am trying to get both kitties familiar with the new item prior to installation (a window seat for watching the bird feeder)… and now the only way is active play about it.

As soon as *I* stop playing with things around it they now walk away with total disinterest.

Must be time to install it.

New Kitty Item Inspection

I have, yet again, succumbed to the appeal of mass marketing…

The new kitty perch (to be mounted where they can watch the outdoor bird feeder) has just been unpacked.

I will leave it for inspection for a few days before installation.

It will go through the stages of fear… interest… boredom… and then upon installation – no doubt a repeat…

But right now it smells different.
